Wildfire (Firethorn, #2)
by
"I wouldn't say this book has overtly feminist themes, but the strong complex and very human main character who is subject to the fate but still and active participant in her life is a breath of fresh air in the fantasy genre. It is one of the few fantasy female main characters where I both admired her AND found her believable - she isn't super smart or strong, just committed to doing her best. "

The Darkangel (Darkangel Trilogy, #1)
by
"Though not centered on feminist or gender themes, this book as a compelling and strong, though still believable, female main character. I think it serves as nice counter point to all the YA stuff out there with female leads that are flawless or vapid. It does have the love story element but done better and more thoughtfully."
