I enjoyed reading the exchange between you and 'Jeff' about the merits of male versus female m/m writers. I have just begun my exploration of this genre and I do not think I can tell if the writer is male- or female-identified. Are there any, in your opinion?

I've read opinions saying that female authors focus more on the romance, and the male authors on the plot. In this book A Dance of Love and Jealousy I've felt clearly and probably for the first time that the author is a man. I loved the book, but not for the romance, but for the artistic world the author described and intermingled with a good romantic plot. And I've read other books written by men, and I felt no differences between them and my favorites stories written by women. So I think in the end it's all about the perspective one wishes to develop the plot/characters, the perspective being one of the romance, or one of other genre. But the most important factor is the author, their creativity and well-done research that have nothing to do with the gender.
