~☆~Autumn Did I ever tell that you that I have tried twice to read Anna Karenina? Both times I get to about the same place and just cannot go on as he is so long winded and BORING. I think the second time I jumped over and read the end. I always knew the end from having watched it but I felt it was one I had to actually read. HA! can't do it!

 ☆Ruth☆ I had the same thing with Dr Zhivago - that was soooo painful to read as I loved the film. It's the Russian way of writing I think, to bore on about totally irrelevant stuff!

Yes, they do! They are maddening. I had to read Dr. Zhivago in high school my senior year. Whether I actually finished it I am not sure. I own the film now. Senior year I also had to memorize 100 lines of poetry and was so nervous that I had to recite my poem to the teacher after class. She ran out of time anyway. Movies and music can add so much to boring books that I would forget in a minute otherwise. I have a music box that plays Lara's theme.

I agree about Dr. Zhivago, don't understand what all the fuss was about on this one although the movie was beautiful.

Anna Karenina was really a chore to finish reading. Tolstoy went into excruciating detail about Anna losing her mind and I couldn't wait to finish.

~~~~~~~~Oh! I didn't know that she lost her mind. I am so glad I quit when I did. I have watched the movie on TV and its just too awful. I started again the second time after seeing The English Patient as he makes reference to it. I felt sorry for her.
``Laurie Sorry I should have posted a spoiler. Do you want to know how it ended so you don't have to read it again lol?
