Perfected (Perfected, #1)
by
"The main character is stupid, the romance is stereotyped and the whole idea could never happen. I don't even care about how childish the immature tween is. If you want something about "what is means to be human" and all that, read Between Shades of Gray. Divergent is a disappointment compared with The Hunger Games, but is a better alternative to this."

The Tsarina's Daughter
by
"Instalove x3, hater Christians, bear-training gypsies, one-sided villains, helpless heroine and hot exotic hunk. As one reviewer said, "it's so historically inaccurate, it's blasphemous." Half the book could be removed. If you want a historical alternative, pick The Lost Crown, or if you must have the romance [sighs] pick Anastasia's secret, at least it has no stereotypes and is more to the point."

The Diamond Secret: A Retelling of Anastasia
by
"It is a copy of the movie Anastasia. That is bad. People who like Anastasia will call it a copy. People who don't well... they won't like it. If you want an Anastasia story, pick Anastasia and her sisters."

Tsarina
by
"It offends Maria Rasputina, who survived and probably had children. It is rooted in a historical improbability and magic eggs are cliche. Not to mention instalove again."

Dreaming Anastasia (Dreaming Anastasia, #1)
by
"Historical improbabilities, too much profanity, unnecessary elements.

There are several alternatives to this. One is Enchantment by Orson Scott Card. It does talk about Russian history but no Anastasia. The Fetch is not as good and never explains Ana is Anastasia, but if you must have a larger amount of romance, feel free to read it, I won't pry it from your hands or anything." See Review |
