"First a quick note: there are earlier Usagi Yojimbo stories than this, but they were from a different publisher. Usagi's story starts with a book called "Usagi Yojimbo: The Ronin."

This series is one of the all-time great comics. There aren't enough words to express how great it is. There is a fair amount of (cartoon) violence (comparable to Mouse Guard, another series on this list), so not for younger kids, but just a truly amazing series. There's a reason this series has spanned decades."
