I totally agree!
Amy Gumm from Dorothy Must Die.
How the shit is celeana winning??! She was a stupid disney princess. Not a real assassin at all. Boring, bland character.
How is Celaena on this list? haha, she's got to be the worst assassin ever! and she rarely assassinated anyone in the books!
Polly wrote: "How is Celaena on this list? haha, she's got to be the worst assassin ever! and she rarely assassinated anyone in the books!"Did she....did she ever? I am pretty sure the first "person" she killed were the three princes in HoF, right? I can't remember.

I can't remember now, It's funny how she did no assassinating at all in Throne of Glass, Assassins blade she screwed up most of the time she did kill the crime lord but that can hardly count seen as it was set up.
and in crown of midnight when she becomes the kings assassin she doesn't actually kill anyone just pretends lol she reads like a fan fiction character. She's all talk and no show. constantly has to keep telling the reader that she's the best assassin ever!
I don't get how she got that reputation? In the first story in Assassins blade, the pirate lord mentions her as being an legendary assassin how exactly? it makes no sense

This just means that she was a good person, not just walking around and killing people. She always tried to avoid it, making her better than someone who enjoyed their job of killing people. And, actually, she was renowned as the best assassin in the world that the books take place. In short, just because she prefers to not kill and that she kills very few people in the books makes her better than anyone else. Look at the assassin's character, not just the number of dead burdening their shoulders.

Sorry/Apsalar from Gardens of the Moon and the rest of the Malazan series could take all of these assassins down. Should be on this list.
Nerium wrote: "Dancer from the Malazan Book of the Fallen."I'd second this and add Apsalar/Sorry. I'd say more but it'd be a spoiler.
Karla wrote: "I didn't pick Celaena Sardothien because it's the most popular book, I've actually read all these!"Well I guess there's no accounting for taste.
Karla wrote: "I didn't pick Celaena Sardothien because it's the most popular book, I've actually read all these!"Kristen Cashore is not on your read shelf. Nor is Robin Lafevers, George Martin, Maria Snyder, Brent Weeks, R.A. Salvatore, Jennifer Estep, Maggie Stiefvater, David Gemmell, Dakota Banks, Amanda Bonilla, Steven Brust, Larissa Ione, Jaye Wells, Amy Raby, Mickey Zucker Reichert, Philippa Ballantine, Lindsay Buroker, Jon Sprunk, Crista McHugh, M.J. Scott, or Cassandra Rose Clarke.
There are two Robin Hobb books; Assassin's Apprentice and Fool's Errand, Lake Silence by Anne Bishop, and Libriomancer by Jim C. Hines. Now I haven't read Anne Bishop or Jim C Hines, and maybe those characters are in the books you've read but I do know that Fitz and Chade are in those two Robin Hobb books.
I'm not trying to be rude. I can think of a number of reasons why this situation could have come about. But in Throne of Glass, the only book I've read in which Celaena Sardothien appears, she was a flat incredibly annoying unrealistically skilled character - given that she was only 19 at the time - who I could not stand, in a very mediocre book which pretended to be fantasy but would be better classed as a romance in a fantasy setting. I've only read 9 characters from this list but I'm fairly certain she would be my last choice even if knew every single one of these people personally.
Finally. Yes I know that the title of this poll is "Your favourite...". See my previous comment.

Characters go through character development over the course of a series, especially Celaena. The first Throne of Glass book is widely considered the worst, with Crown of Midnight (the second book in the series) considered second worst. The Throne of Glass series is also popular for evolving from a young adult fantasy romance story into a more adult high fantasy story over the course of the instalments. Never mind the fact that assuming romance is a lesser form of storytelling is a little snooty.
I’m not sure why you feel no strongly about supplying your opinion on a character when you’ve only read the first and shortest book they appear in. You don’t need to share our opinions on the character. I read Graceling by Kristen Cashore and detested the story and the protagonist. You don’t see me trying to convince people to dislike her. Let people enjoy things. I would ask you to refrain from sharing your opinion on a subject when you haven’t even read a quarter of the work that said subject appears in. But this is the internet, and I can’t tell you what to do.
