What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Roland Odinkemelu Most aspiring writer's biggest question about wanting to write a novel is: what is it that I am going write about? I guess the best way to approach this to write a log line on what you think that story is about. A log line is typically not more than two sentences. Then, expand that to 200 words, and now you have your synopsis, and your novel has begun.

Here's my advice for aspiring writers:
1. Set a goal as to what you intend to accomplish and commit yourself to that task.
2. Write daily even if it is one line that you managed to write. Before you'd know it, it has become a page.
3. Keep a notepad (or your phone handy) with you wherever you go to make notes for inspiration to write can come anytime and you want to capture that moment and make the most of it.
4. If you hit a writer's block, don't worry. It's only a phase. It will pass. Just keep in mind the end goal of that particular point you want to address and your mind will work it out for you.
5. Don't give up even when you think that what you wrote is not that great for writing is therapeutic. The more you write, the better your writing becomes.
6. Remember, you're not racing against time to finish your manuscript. Writing takes time and good writing matures through time.
7. Believe in your capacity to tell your story and tell it the best way you can.
