How do you get inspired to write?

Peter Jackson I wrote, many years ago an article describing the humorous side of a bicycle-ride across England, and was astonished to see it printed, in full, across two pages of 'Cycling World'. I felt proud and put it away in a drawer for many years. Reading it again some time later encouraged me to write a blog specifically aimed at entertaining people, and it was the response from this blog that gave me the confidence to 'try it for real'.
