For FINAL SOLSTICE, the idea came quite simply: from watching the news. Weather stories in particular: horrifying and relentless and sudden catastrophic weather events. Tornadoes, hurricanes, flash floods and forest fires, earthquakes and the like. The idea just came out of that shared human feeling of helplessness--and desire for order. Could it be that a) something (or someone) could directly cause this mayhem, and b) someone else could prevent it?
