Rheia
Rheia asked Chris Vick:

You wanted the response of a total broken heart? D: literally cried myself to sleep! Was so devastated and in denial. Thanks for being the first author to make me react like that, I really became attached to the characters, I felt like I was there. With Sam. Being in that storm. Just everything. Did you cry while writing it? I would of... Was there any parts in the book that you found difficult to write??

Chris Vick I certainly got very emotionally attached myself. While you write a book you live in your characters' heads, and they live in yours.

Yes, there were parts that were difficult to write. That's true with any book. But it's probably to do with ease of writing as much as the emotional engagement. Sometimes it flows, other times, it's blood from the stone.
Sometimes, you 'get' what's in your head, in words, and other times, it's much more difficult, even frustrating. Re-writing is the key. The storm, the part in the mine after the rave, Sam's confrontation with his mum - all were tricky in their own ways. Hope you like Storms as much :) (out end next week! - eek!)
