What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Ken Puddicombe I don't think that there is any one formula for writing. I can only suggest that good writing stems from reading good fiction, reading biographies and how other writers practice their art, observation of human nature, keeping journals (essential), and applying discipline to the writing habit. Writing is like any other profession: it takes discipline and dedication. There is, in my opinion, no such thing as "waiting for the muse."
