(view spoiler)[Hi Kimberley it was lovely to have met you at Comic Con in Adelaide. I am looking forward to reading your series. I have to say you were one of my favourite people I had met. I will let you know how I go. Your books are on my to read list xxxx
My question to you is where do you get your ideas from to write your books? Do you listen to music to help bring the characters to life? (hide spoiler)]

Hey Renee! I get my ideas from a multitude of things. When it came to my first trilogy, it was more the movies I loved. The first book in the first half has a Underworld kind of feel, whereas the second half is more fantasy (any movie that had a quest involved). My most recent work I got the idea from reading about some myths around the world about certain places and the whole 'once you enter you never return' scenario. Other one's I'm working on are based off just a certain moment in time where I may have seen something or read something which were the catalyst for creating a story. I would go into more about those ones, but they are still being formed, but you can definitely come up to me when I'm in your city again for a con to find out the details. But what I'm trying to portray is that anything can be your influence: words, things, people, experiences, movies, other books etc. Coming up with a unique story - that's the hard part.
When writing, I definitely do not listen to music as it distracts me too much (I get too excited and sing along haha). I like the silence or even just sitting in a cafe. It can be hard sometimes to find the best writing spot, so I sometimes move around.
I hope this answered your questions.
