Hi, Bren...I am a Southern writer as well, and want to tell you i think your book was one of the best I've read in many years...I wish you continued success...I am curious as to what gave you the inspiration for the novel?

Bren McClain Why, Danny, thank you! I am quite honored. What gave me the inspiration? A promise I made to two beings -- a man named Ron, who gave me the initial seed for the book when he confessed a secret he'd been carrying since he was a boy of six growing up outside of Birmingham, AL and a mama cow whose cries for her calf settled in my bones. I couldn't bring her calf back, but I could tell her story. A big congratulations to you for being considered for the Southern Book Prize! I want to read YOUR book!! Thank you again. Bren
