I had retired from teaching first grade and was writing curriculum professionally as well as on a volunteer basis for my church. I wrote Ponder Porcupine to help our youngsters realize how fortunate and blessed they were. Several people asked me if I was going to get it published. That prompted me to learn all I could about the writing craft and the publishing business.
