Well, I partially answered that in Without a Voice--the mystery of how a single mother can survive against all odds. I guess for me, it's part mystery and part miracle. Just like my character, Sarah, I usually couldn't see the path I needed to travel. It was a mystery to me how life could possibly work out for me and my daughters. The path was crazy at times, but life is good. .
