What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Neil Hayes My book "A View From A Lake: Buddha, Mind and Future" actually started as a psy-fi novel, but soon I realised I had a factual story to tell first. I would like to attempt the novel one day. The mystery would by why we all develop a sense of "self", even though no individual self survives the death of the body. Maybe the self-view that is so destructive to our planet is a species that merely uses our bodies as its agent?
