Goodreads asked Susan Blackmon:

How do you get inspired to write?

Susan Blackmon Inspiration can come from anywhere - a rainstorm, a song, something someone said and especially a place. My first book idea came from the Key West shipwreck museum. The idea for the series came from the Trolley Tour. Songs that inspired Salvaged Love are Every Rose has its Thorn by Poison, Kiss you all Over by Exile, and Dance with Me by Orleans. Songs for Love Again are Passenger's Let Her Go and Nickleback's Far Away which puts me right into Theodore's frame of mind.

But the real magic is when the characters bring the inspiration. I was writing a scene between Max and Abby and he pulls out his father's pocket watch I didn't know anything about until that moment as I was writing.
