Don Simkovich
Don Simkovich asked K.T. Rose:

How do you pace yourself when writing -- like so many words per day?

K.T. Rose It depends. If I wake up with an epiphany (say I came up with a twist in the coming chapter) I would hop on the computer or laptop and go at it for hours. If nothing comes to me or I'm stuck, I'll take a break and read a best seller or work on something else like an outline or do some research for another story I'm working on. So for me, there isn't X amount of words a day. I let it all flow as it comes. Once the flow comes, it's impossible to shut off. But when it's stalled, I move on to something else and then come back to it when I have an idea on where to go. If I need to read, research or just write for the hell of it, I will. But it always comes. Sometimes 10000 words at a time.
