Goodreads asked Nigel Bird:

What books are on your summer reading list this year?

Nigel Bird As I'm hosting an event with Chris Brookmyre this week at the Coastword festival, I've been immersed in his latest Parlablanes and have really enjoyed them. Now I've read three on the trot, I'd rather like to read more.

I'll be in France over the summer, so I'll definitely be tuning in to some Simenon - some of his Maigrets and some romans durs.

Another couple of Ed McBain's 87th Precinct will feature and The Whites by Richard Price.

Paul Auster's 4321 looks great, but might take more than a season to get through.

On my kindle, there's a pile of great recent releases I want to check out. Those by All Due Respect a pretty much top of my pile.
