What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Cryssa Bazos Find a writing community and a critique group, especially the latter! My critique group holds my feet to the fire and they don't let me get away with too many indulgences (actually none). They have made me a better writer. The key, though, is to find a group where you can trust their judgement and they are still rooting for you to succeed. Stay away from writers who deliver harsh criticism without truly having your back. An unflinching assessment delivered by people who truly want to see you improve as a writer will help you become a better writer; harsh criticism delivered without any thought of concern will definately derail you.
