Goodreads asked Thom Gossom Jr.:

What books are on your summer reading list this year?

Thom Gossom Jr. This summer I am reading books by two friends

Bus Ride To Freedom— Fred Gray
Fred Gray is a civil rights attorney. He was one of the chief architects of the strategies behind the Montgomery Bus Protest of the 1960s. He also represented Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King during that time. On a personal note, Mr. Gray also filed suits to integrate my alma mater Auburn University. Having lived through that time and attended Auburn 6 years after the first African American student was admitted because of Mr. Gray, I have a personal interest and know many of the names in the book. It is a great piece of American and Alabama history.

Hook — Randall Horton
I’ve know Randall Horton since his High School days when I was the head B-Team high school football coach and Randall was a wide receiver on my team. Randall chronicles his story from promising University undergraduate to homeless drug addict, international cocaine smuggler and an incarcerated felon before becoming a professor at The University of New Haven. Randall’s book is a testament to the human spirit.
