Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Gail Gallant My husband and I accidentally hit a deer on a country road in Grey County a few years back. It was a terrible experience. The car was badly damaged, and the deer died almost instantly, but not before it momentarily tried to stand up. I cried my eyes out, because we had recently lost our beloved dog, an Irish Wolfhound, and the deer reminded me of her. Somehow the two deaths got crossed in my mind.
Since then, anytime we're driving on a back road, I keep my eyes sharp for movement in the bush along either side.
