I just bought 'On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century' and I am so glad I did because now I sound very intellectual! More often though I like detective series. I have stuck with Sue Grafton and her alphabet series since forever. I love Kinsey Millhone. I found Kathy Reichs' books late, so am still playing catch up. Mostly these days I read and reread my own books as I edit and edit!!!
