How do you get inspired to write?

Susannah Carleton I am inspired to write when when an intriguing character or scene pops into my head. The pop-into-my-head scene is invariably the inciting incident. Sometimes it takes a while for me to learn enough about the characters to begin writing the rest of the book.

I wrote the prologue for The Marriage Campaign shortly after I completed A Scandalous Journey. It took me more than a year to figure out the rest of the story, then about six month to write the book.
