I am almost finished with Lilac Girls and I am depressed. I do NOT want this book to be over. I have enjoyed reading it so much. I have such an interest in the Holocaust and WW2 and it is so obvious how much research you put into writing this book. I am just thrilled that you are writing a prequel and I will definitely be buying it asap! What time period will the prequel start?

Martha Hall Kelly Hi Amber, That's wonderful--not the depressed part--but the not wanting the book to be over part. I'm loving writing the prequel. It goes back in time to WWI and features Caroline's mother Eliza and her fight to help the White Russian emigres forced out of Russia. It's great that I can still be with some of my favorite Lilac Girls characters like Caroline as a child (Betty, too) and some of the others. The third book goes further back in time to the Civil War and features Caroline's great grandmother who was a nurse on the battlefield.
