I enjoy rigorously internally-consistent magic systems in fantasy novels. Did you have any specific inspirations for the magic systems in your books? I have enjoyed reading and re-reading your novels several times over the years since I first encountered them as a teenager. I will probably re-read them again soon.

Inspiration? Yes, when I was a teenager I very much enjoyed Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics -- three short simple concepts from which a wealth of stories evolved. I was also a big fantasy fan, and I couldn't help wondering if the same concept - stories rooted solidly in underlying laws could be used for fantsy as well as science fiction. Many years later when I decided to start writing, that was my starting point.

Given the happy fact that the first three books are now back in print, along with a fourth new book, does this mean you'll be writing more fantasy, or are there other genres you plan to delve into? I can't recall what brought your books to mind this week, but I'm very glad it happened. As soon as I can scrape a few dollars together, I'll buy all four in both paper and ebook formats.
