Goodreads asked I.G. Roberts:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

I.G. Roberts 1. Sit down and write. The more you write, the better you will become at it. Try to write every day, even if it's only a hundred words.
2. When you are on a roll, stick to it. Get those ideas out there while you have them.
3. Keep notes of any ideas you have. They might not all go into your first book or story but may come in handy later.
4. Do NOT be frightened of criticism. Some people may give you bad feedback but look at it anyway. See if you can learn from it and address it.
5. See if there is a writers group in your area that you can join. In my area, the public libraries have been running seminars that I attend to learn whatever I can.
6. Look for blogs about writing. For example Joanna Penn does one that is a good starting point.
7. Always remember, learning is not just about sitting down in a classroom, or reading a self help book. Gain you knowledge from where ever you can find it.
That's a start anyway but if you want me to answer any more questions, post them here or you can go to http://igroberts.com/contact and send me a message from there I'll reply as soon as I can.
