I open my eyes in the morning. I'm always inspired. Headlines inspire me, radio broadcasts, walks, my surroundings. I once wrote a book because I couldn't learn the outcome. A man was gunned down on the capital steps in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I was on my lunch hour and it was breaking news. That night I tried to find out what happened, and it was as if the news had vanished. People aren't normally gunned down in Santa Fe in such a public place. I wrote my first book out of frustration, I suppose.

Do you live in Colorado Springs? Am really enjoying The Past Came Running - and love your references about the Springs. I was the trade book buyer at the Colorado College Bookstore for twenty years and cannot recall another trade book with as many "tidbits" about our town! REALLY enjoying the book and am recommending it to a good friend who is a CSPD detective!!
