Goodreads asked Kip Koelsch:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Kip Koelsch I share some ideas with my wife--sometimes she can help move along my thoughts.

I read more. I watch a movie. I stare at my cats while they sleep. I pace around the house.

I work out. Sometimes my best ideas come to me while I'm training out on the Gulf of Mexico in my surf ski (where I have no pen or paper) or while I'm out in the woods mountain biking. Often, I'll repeat the ideas that come to me in those situations over and over and over in my mind like a mantra--until I can get back to my vehicle and the notebook typically kept in my glove compartment.

I brainstorm in my journal. I'll take a word or phrase from a book or article, write it at the top of a page and then see where it takes me. I'm not expecting anything remotely related to what I may actually be writing, but rather to just tap into the creativity that may have recently ebbed.
