How do you get inspired to write?

Judith Bixby Boling That's a question I'm frequently asked, and usually don't know how to answer. I write what comes to mind. Unlike many authors, I don't have an written outline for my stories. My characters "speak" to me and frequently lead me into the next scene. Sometimes I do have to rein them in, and force them to go a new direction, but most often, they know what they're about and do a credible job of sending me, and my readers, down the correct path.
