Amy Bass What a great question! My first response? Right back at you! Authors I've devoured recently include Celeste NG, Lisa See, J. Courtney Sullivan, and Elizabeth Strout. I had a chance to meet Strout recently, as her book The Burgess Boys is based on the same town -- Lewiston, Maine -- as my upcoming book, and I read it obsessively and multiple times as part of my research. Specific books that have stuck with me the last few years include Orphan Train, Everything I Never Told You, Dept. of Speculation, Admission, and A Visit from the Goon Squad. After an intense 18 months of research and writing, I'm looking forward to diving back into fiction again. Lisa See's new book is on my nightstand, as is my friend Catherine Pearlman's parenting advice book, "Ignore It!"
