I was inspired to write my first book by a combination of advancing age and a history of procrastination. I compelled myself to not only start a creative project(I'd done that before) but also finally complete one(I hadn't done that before. As for the topic for book #1 , every shortlist had Lance--a Border Collie I rescued--on it.
