Goodreads asked Savannah Maris:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Savannah Maris First, I walk away from what I'm working on.
Second, I listen. I listen to music, to my beta readers, to my inner circle of friends, to my husband.
Third, I walk away again and think about what I've heard. Question my characters and plot. Then question how can I make it better with the suggestions that I've received.

I've learned if it feels forced for me to write it, it'll come across forced for the reader as well. The second book in the Riverton Crossing series, Unfinished Business, went through three rewrites before it felt right. The first version had good bones, but it was BORING (and my beta readers told me so). The second was more exciting, but didn't flow. The third combined the two nicely and everyone seems happy with it.
