Goodreads asked Shane Trusz:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Shane Trusz Some people are analytical and need to outline heavily before they start writing. If this is you, try reading "Sometimes the Magic Works," by Terry Brooks. I'm the absolute opposite. If you're like me, the worse thing you can do is overthink things. Sit down with a character in mind and cut em loose. The more real a character is in my mind, the less work I need to do because they take on a life of their own. If this sounds more like you, try reading, "On Writing," by Stephen King.
