I think I intended that the Narciso in the PIDE was the father of the Narciso in the PJ. The process of arriving at a title is quite strange. I originally thought of someone telling me the world's most uninteresting headline: 'Small earthquake in Chile. Not many dead.' From there I leapt to the idea of extreme understatement. And from there I arrived at A Small Death in Lisbon. The girl's death appears to be a run of the mill killing but it opens up a massive can of worms. La Petite Mort wasn't my main intention.

Dear Rob, I will be visiting Lagos in December. There seems to be an English bookstore there, I think it is called The Owl. I will try and get a copy there. If it does not work, I will try your solution. I finished the book last night. WOW - what an twist in the "tail". My Portuguese is quite rudimentary (Level A2) - I thought A Bandeira Vermelha meant the Yellow Ribbon. I stand corrected! ?

On page 237, the date should read 1955 (not 1995) and on page 235 it says A Bardeira Vermelha. ? I am a translator by profession, so therefore I have the mind-set of a reviser.
