What bike did Lois buy for $50? Is it a univega? A Huffy? A Trek? Is it a road bike, a mountain bike a cruiser? This is so unimportant, I know... but I feel like it's a fair question to ask. Yesterday, had someone told me there'd be a work of fiction that would make me care about sourdough, I'd call bullshit. And yet, here I am, obsessed. And I want to know what bike she rode to the pier.

Robin Sloan I love this question! In my imagination, it's a beat-up hybrid bike that was used out on the playa during Burning Man -- a bit sandblasted -- hauled back to San Francisco, greased up and sold for (frankly) more than it was worth.
