Like everyone else, I popped over to see if there were more books. I don't really have a question, other than how do you stand the greedy demands for a sequel? Good for you! I love Mount Char, but too many stretch what starts out as a great story, until it just fades to nothing. Trying to force a story on, when the inspiration is already complete, just sounds like a recipe for creative constipation to me.

Hey Jennifer,
Well, I appreciate the kind words. But honestly, it's not a problem. I mean, people liked my book enough that they want to read more? Cry me a friggin river.
The reason I'm being a little cagey about the further adventures of Carolyn and company is exactly what you say. Sequel just for the sake of sequel is usually a recipe for disaster, and (spoiler) I think most people would agree that Carolyn's arc has kind of peaked.
That said, I actually do miss those guys myself. Mount Char was pretty much all I thought of for a very pleasant two years, and it might be nice to at least go back for a visit. It's crossed my mind that there might be some room to talk about the other librarians who didn't get much page time. I'm planning to do at least one prequel-ish short story. If that works out, we'll see.

Hi! My wife got me into the Library at Mount Char and while I'm only about halfway through, I know I'm going to need more. I don't see a lot of recent activity from your blog and was wondering if (hoping!) the sequel was still in the works or if that's not likely? Sorry if this has already been answered, but I'm new to Goodreads and haven't found a good way of searching through the questions.

part 2 Did you know that for first people hunter-gatherers, animals they hunt become their first gods, partly from the guilt of killing them as empathy reliever ( eating flesh of a god, becoming, evoving etc)? I'm a Joseph Campbell fan so your theory blew my mind :) Congrats, your new fan :)
