What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Cate Montana Write! Don't question the urge if it's there. Write! The "seat of the pants to the seat of the chair" is the only method. Write! Take the criticism when it comes (and it will) and learn from it. Don't take it personally. (Good luck with that ;-) Write! Write everyday. Follow your passions and let them tell you waht to write about. Don't try to force your opinions on editors about what you think they should want (and get from you). Supply them with what they ask for! Be professional. Write. Be professional ... I could repeat these last two things indefinitely!
