Hi Lois, The Giver is up there as one of my favourites, and deservedly takes its place on my shelf among so many great classics. When you wrote it, did you instantly think, "This will be a timeless classic," or were you filled with the same uncertainty of many other writers, myself included?

Lois Lowry I don't think in those terms, ever. I simply feel, each time, that I have done my best, and I hope the audience likes it.

Are there more societies(not stated)involved in The Giver Quartet? And did the result of the veering that Gabe performed into the TM had any impact in these societies-transforming or changing them into improved and freer versions(or any changes at all)from the once each were.Did these societies become connected in a way accepted by the villagers? And are those who possess gifts still retained their abilities? Thanks!
