Goodreads asked Barry L. Marshall:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Barry L. Marshall There are several ways. If I'm experiencing writer's block, I've learned that subconsciously there's something wrong or missing with what I just wrote. If I think about it, I discover the answer and rewrite the passage and that eliminates the writer's block. Usually, I structure everything I write with a loose plot/chapter outline. This gives me a goal, but allows enough room to be creative and spontaneous. It also allows me to skip around and work on different sections so I don't get bored of what I'm doing. Another tactic of mine is to work on a completely different story and alternate back and forth.
