Goodreads asked Stacy McAnulty:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Stacy McAnulty Favorite Things About Being a Writer
1. I can sit in bed and read a great book and honestly tell my family I'm working.
2. The dress code is pretty relaxed. (In my home office, pajamas are the norm.)
3. Totally OK that I walk around talking to myself. I'm just translating for the characters in my head.
4. Meeting readers! Even though this usually required me to put on "real clothes" I love talking to readers about my books.
5. Writing fiction is ultimate power (over fictitious people). I decide who lives, who dies, who falls in love, and most importantly, who gets to adopt the dog.
6. The hours are very flexible. No one cares when I work my 60+ hour per week. (Not exaggerating. It's full-time plus some.)
7. I get to be creative and use my imagination all the time.
8. Flying first class and the martini lunches. (I'm using my imagination right now!)
9. The satisfaction of typing "the end". What a rush!
10. Coffee.
