Isabel Sterling asked Erin Hahn:

Book question: Where did the inspiration for YOU'D BE MINE come from? Non-book question: How did you teach your cat to play fetch?!

Erin Hahn YOU'D BE MINE came from a documentary I saw about the Carter Family and their influence in early country music. Most everyone knows about Johnny Cash and June Carter and their tumultuous and incredible love story, but not everyone realizes that of the two, June was the legend from the famous family. I loved that. I loved the twist. Rather than the typical "famous boy falls for plain Jane girl next door", I wanted to write a "famously troubled boy falls for the daughter of legends".

And ha! My cat is secretly a dog, I think. I feel like he must have been adopted into a puppy pack and therefore has no idea how a proper cat should act.
