I was wondering if you have considered making the ties of the hero and brides a magic circle/clan instead of, or in addition, to being wives/mates? magic circles? I haven't no. It's an interesting idea, and I've seen it done before by other authors, which makes me hesitant to adopt it. If an original enough approach to that occurs to me, I'll give it a shot.
