My top advice to them is to not seek writing advice from others, because the journey of discovering oneself as a writer is personal and unique to everyone. In that uniqueness lies each writer's specialty. Other than this, the general principles around good writing are dedicated allocation of daily time, being unafraid of writing lulls, and not getting deterred by negative feedback.
