How do you get inspired to write?

Amy Virginia Evans I write in a journal every day, so it is something natural to me. I like to think about my characters and plots during long walks in the woods, and also during early morning hours before life's mental clutter sets in. The creative process takes immense effort but is something that must be allowed to flow. I'm a believer in incubating ideas during periods of rest. When the time to produce arrives, discipline and effort are what make it all happen. Creative writing takes a great chunk of time, but the editing that follows is the real work and most time consuming.
