Hi, are there any plans to reprint the Penric series? Or even better, release an omnibus version? I really only read hard copies of things, but I'm not in a place to drop $100 apieve on four books because they had tiny printruns...
Lois McMaster Bujold
The six extant Penric & Desdemona tales are ready for two 3-novella omnibus paper volumes, if some print publisher wants to step up to the plate; there is a contractual wait for the stories to age out of Subterranean Press's term of exclusive license, however, which will be a while yet given that the last two haven't even been printed the first time. (Still to go are "Mira's Last Dance" and "The Prisoner of Limnos". Given that it takes the average big publisher a year to get a book to print press, it does seem like some of the wait could double up with normal lead time.)
They know where my agent lives, so.
Note that we want a publisher capable of getting books into brick-and-mortar bookstores, otherwise there's no point.
(My experiment with print-on-demand with The Spirit Ring was lackluster in results, so I'm in no hurry to repeat it.)
Meanwhile, you might try interlibrary loan.

Lois McMaster Bujold:
I was reading through the questions you've answered on Goodreads, and I was struck by how much your answers read as if written by Desdemona herself. I mean that in the best possible way, as I find her quite funny. I know all the characters are technically "you", but I was wondering if there may be a little more "you" written into Desdemona than other characters?

Remember those old razor commercials - "I liked it so much, I bought the company?" I love the Vorkosigan books so much I named my son Miles. He's 11 now and eagerly awaiting the date when he's old enough to read them. Do I need a question? That's a question, right? Anyway, thank you, for writing these wonderful books. Cordelia has been a maternal role model for me.
