My book club just discussed Lilac Girls--loved it--so moving!! I have a question about the building on the corner of 49th and Fifth where the French Consulate had offices in Lilac Girls. Was that the actual location? In the early 1970's, I worked for G. Schirmer Music Publishers located in the building in the corner of 49th Street and Fifth Avenue, 609 Fifth Ave. Just curious about the history of the building. Thanks

Martha Hall Kelly Yes, that was the original location--it was eventually moved to the upper east side of Manhattan.
