Living in New York is both a gift and a curse. Sure you get food from all around world, and cultural exchanges, and beautiful summers, and rent swells, and sewage blocks, and pizza rat, and train delays...
Sure you get all of that, but it's a goregous city. It's a city that isn't for everyone. I wanted to write a story about trying to survive this city under the most stressful circumstances.
I love Grey as a character. I've always wanted to explore what happens when a person who has inner demons is forced to deal with the manifestations of those creatures.
I also love the idea of a female anti-hero. A scoundrel. She's the last person that should be in charge of saving the world, which makes her the perfect person to be in that situation.
