Kate
Kate asked Lois Lowry:

Some people have interpreted the film of The Giver as pro-Right to Life. What is your reaction to this interpretation?

Lois Lowry I think it can also be interpreted as pro-choice. People bring their own beliefs to the book.

More Answered Questions

Claire
Claire asked Lois Lowry:

Hi Mrs. Lowry, I'm a HUGE fan of Gathering Blue - It's one of my favorite books ever. Why did you choose to continue the Giver series, and when you did, why choose a girl character? Was it easier to write about Jonas or Kira? - Claire Wagner

Oswin
Oswin asked Lois Lowry:

What happened in the The Giver's world to change so drastically? And how did you came with the idea? Greetings!

Jennifer Cronk
Jennifer Cronk asked Lois Lowry:

I'm currently re-reading "The Giver," in anticipation of the upcoming movie. I've been surprised (I don't know why) at how this book transcends time and has a new audience each decade. Why do you think we seem to have this universal hunger for a 'utopian' world, and how did you go about creating the one in your book? I'd also be curious to hear your thoughts on the 'Utopia' show that Fox is about to premier.
