Goodreads asked David Wilson:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

David Wilson It doesn't happen often. But sometimes taking an hour or two to work on something else, perhaps some physical work or being outside or running errands--it can help give the brain a short rest. Sometimes that is all that is needed. I would caution anyone however, not to get up and get away from the computer screen every time you aren't "feeling it." Sometimes you just have to make things happen when you write. You don't want to get in to the habit of taking a break very often. Otherwise, your productivity drops off dramatically.
